Pre-operative instructions for liposuction

  • Routine Laboratory Test Hb( Hemoglobin), BT(Bleeding Time) ,CT(Clotting Time ) , Blood Urea , Serum Creatinine ,FBS (Fasting Blood Sugar ) must be done and ECG (only if you are more than 40 years or have any heart problem) should be done.

  • Refrain from all nicotine products, including cigarettes, pipe tobacco, chew or Nicotine patch. Nicotine interferes with healthy circulation and may affect the result of your surgery. It also places you at higher risk of complication when receiving anesthesia.

  • Do not drink alcohol for 1 week before and after surgery.

  • On the evening prior to surgery, please eat a light meal and avoid alcohol consumption.

  • DO NOT EAT OR DRINK ANYTHING AFTER MIDNIGHT (This includes water and gum chewing). Surgery may be cancelled if this is not followed. A fasting state is required in order to receive sedation for surgery. The only exception is medication, which we instruct you to take with a sip of water the morning of surgery.

  • Please make arrangements for someone to pick you up after your procedure and drive you home. You may NOT drive yourself home from the clinic as medications given during surgery will make it unsafe for you to drive.

  • Plan to have someone with you for 24 hours after surgery, to care for you.

  • Do not wear nail polish. The natural color of your nails is an indicator of your general health. Also, please do not wear makeup. For your safety during surgery, all jewelry must be removed. Please do not wear jewelry to the hospital; leave it at home. Body jewelry, as well, must be removed.

  • We are concerned about privacy for all surgical day care patients. We request that you limit yourself to one support person (family, friend), should you feel the need to have someone with you preoperatively. Please do not bring children.

  • Do not take any products containing aspirin, ibuprofen, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication or Vitamin E. Tylenol is acceptable.

  • Please ensure that all laboratory tests and/or blood work has been completed a day before surgery. Call 01612553486 or 9217060061 to obtain your arrival time for the day of surgery.


  • You may shower and shampoo the morning of surgery. Do not wear makeup, hair sprays or gels, or nail polish. You may leave acrylic nails on.

  • Please wear loose fitting clothing.

  • Do not wear jewelry, including body jewelry or bring valuables to surgery.

  • If you have your menstrual cycle, please wear a feminine napkin. Do not wear a tampon.

Post-operative instructions for liposuction

  • A responsible adult must provide transportation for you after surgery (public transportation is not permissible).

  • Avoid making major decisions or participating in activities that require judgment for 24 hours after surgery. .
  • Avoid any activities that cause pain or discomfort. There are no restrictions on your activity or exercise (you can start exercise after wearing pressure garments).

  • You are encouraged to walk around the house on the day of surgery and thereafter. This helps to prevent blood clots from developing in the legs.

  • Resume activities slowly. You may feel tired for the first few days but you should be able to return to normal activities within 2 to 3 days.

  • Take all medications as instructed post operatively.

  • Some bruising and swelling is normal. Bruising would go off within two to three weeks. It is expected to take 3months to see your final results (60 to 70% results are visible immediately after surgery).

  • Drink lots of liquids after surgery to help replenish fluids that may have been lost during surgery. Please do not do dieting for first weeks of liposuction because body would needs energy to replenish depleted store after surgery.

  • You will go home with an elastic bandage in place. Customized Pressure garments would be ready within 3 days. Dressing would be done 3 days after surgery when pressure garments are ready.Dressing would consist of removal of dressing and application of handiplast at liposuction cannula entry site and wearing of pressure garments. if you are from other city pressure garments would be delivered at your home and you can remove dressing and apply handiplast at liposuction cannula entry site yourself also.
    Pressure garments are to be worn for 2 to 3 months. (For initial 3 weeks continously and from 3 weeek to 3 months 12 hours).

  • Expect to have a moderate amount of swelling and drainage. You may change the gauze pads over your elastic bandage as needed to help keep clothing dry. The drainage from the small incisions may be significant for the first 12 hours after surgery but should stop after 24 hours. If it persists after then, please call the office.


  • Fever of 101 degrees F or greater.
  • Pain not relieved with pain medication.
  • Swelling, redness, bleeding, and/or foul drainage from an incision site.
  • Persistent nausea and/or vomiting.
  • Any other concerns.
